We discipline ourselves for godliness. We have been redeemed by God that we might live a life worthy of God and our Lord Jesus Christ, to live a life of excellence, to possess a compelling testimony to the truth and person of Christ and his Kingdom. We pursue a life of dedication, discipline, and sacrifice based on the truth of God’s Word in Christ and in Scripture, where one’s life is lived in a manner worthy of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, for the purpose of demonstrating Christlike character in the roles, relationships, and responsibilities that God provides, done for the glory of God.

With all the possible uses of our time and energy, where can we focus so that we may truly live in the way of Jesus? Paul’s answer is our character and our doctrine, or teaching. Focus on being like the Lord, and focus on believing what is true. This is the path of salvation, both for ourselves and for those we serve.

Spirit of God, center our minds and hearts on being like Jesus and believing what is true.

If the life of Christ is in a man, it expresses itself like “a well of water springing up” or bubbling over.
