Week 44: Friday

We discipline ourselves for godliness. We have been redeemed by God that we might live a life worthy of God and our Lord Jesus Christ, to live a life of excellence, to possess a compelling testimony to the truth and person of Christ and his Kingdom. We pursue a life of dedication, discipline, and sacrifice based on the truth of God’s Word in Christ and in Scripture, where one’s life is lived in a manner worthy of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, for the purpose of demonstrating Christlike character in the roles, relationships, and responsibilities that God provides, done for the glory of God.

If you ever want to accomplish anything meaningful, there will always be a price. This is true in every area of life. We know this to be so in fields like music and sports. It is equally so for our progress in godliness. The price of progress is devotion.

Lord God, direct us in our devotion to you so that we might truly see progress as we follow your Son.

Friday: Mark 15.2-20; Matt. 27.11-31; Luke 23.1-25; John 18.28-19.16

If the life of Christ is in a man, it expresses itself like “a well of water springing up” or bubbling over.
