Week 40: Tuesday

After the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost, a community of three thousand believers began to live as the first Christian Church. The Spirit-filled Church displays the shalom (peace, wholeness) of God’s Kingdom. The community of believers experiences the power of answered prayer, regeneration and new life, the wholeness of God in righteousness and peace, and the powers of the age to come, all in a community of love. Truly, eternal life is ours, and we live as citizens of heaven.

The Great Commandment says we should love the Lord with all our mind. The Apostles taught the Church everything Christ commanded them. The Church has always devoted herself to the Apostolic teaching. In so doing our thoughts are transformed and we love the Lord with our mind.

Open our minds this day, our Lord, to understand your Word through the Apostles and the Prophets, that we may know Christ.

Tuesday: Matt. 6.5-7.29; Luke 6.37-49

We are members of the royal priesthood because we are united to Christ. He is the Priest-King, and our priestly practices all flow from sharing in his ministry as the head of God’s royal and priestly family. In the grace of the Holy Spirit, we must daily decide to walk in this truth.
