The Holy Spirit has granted every Christian divine gifts, special spiritual endowments given that we might serve one another and those in the world. Each of us has been granted unique gifts to enable us to fulfill the calling and commission that God has given us. The Holy Spirit is the pledge (down payment) of the future inheritance that we as Christians will receive when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to establish his Kingdom. The Spirit gives every believer a spiritual gift in order to edify other members of the body of Christ in the local church. The Holy Spirit comes to indwell every believer; no one is left out because the body requires the participation, contribution, and involvement of all members of the body.

The overarching purpose of our gifts is to glorify God through Jesus Christ. We use our gifts to bless others, but the aim of all blessing is to glorify God the Father, through his Son, Jesus Christ. God is worthy of all our service and love.

Thank you, Lord, that we exist for your glory. Let our gifting, service, and speaking in the church all be done for you, that through our love for others you may be honored in all things, for Christ’s sake, amen.

The restoration of the people of God promised in Isaiah, and the eschatological priesthood that accompanies it, finds its origin in Jesus Christ, the Servant-Priest. The royal priesthood of Christ is the basis and pattern for the priesthood of all believers.
